“We are many parts, we are all one Body…”

Thank you for your interested in being involved in your parish community.  We invite you to think about how you can share your skills, talents and time.  There is a huge range of ministries you can be involved in.

Some ministries involve helping at Mass; like Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Welcomers, and Sacristans.

Other ministries involve supporting those in our community by taking Communion to the Sick, or assisting with Masses at Aged Care Facilities.

Or you might like to be involved in helping in practical ways like church cleaning, gardening, repairs and maintenance.

In additional, there are new way you can help due to COVID-19 such as being a Marshal, Usher or Church Sanitiser.  Essential activities that, without them we wouldn’t be able to gather together at Mass and prayer.

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy

Policy Statement

…for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.”  (Mark 10:14)

Children, young people and vulnerable adults are a gift from God with an intrinsic right to dignity of life, respect and security from physical and emotional harm.  They are to be treasured, nurtured and safeguarded. (Archdiocese of Brisbane)

Our parish is focused on ensuring a safe environment is provided to all people, but especially the aged and vulnerable in our community. One part of working towards this is that all parishioners are required to complete and lodge a Volunteer Registration before they volunteer in any ministry.  Some ministries also require the parishioner to hold a current Blue Card and/or Police Check, beforehand.  Our parish will give you every assistance in obtaining these.

But I couldn’t do that

Don’t worry.  We will provide you with all the formation and training you need.  With some ministries we will also pair you up with someone who will support you as you become comfortable with your new ministry.

How often will I be rostered?

It is difficult to say at this point.  The more parishioners that volunteer, the less each of us will need to be rostered. As Fr Jan quoted in a recent Parish Newsletter, “We are many parts, but we are all one Body…”  We encourage each of you to consider volunteering for a ministry (those that already volunteer for a number of different ministries are wonderful!  We appreciate it, but we understand not everyone has the time to do this). This will enable each of us to give back in some small or large way to God’s community. Everything we can each do to contribute is appreciated.
