What to do concerning Funerals
The first step is to contact a Funeral Director, who will help arrange and carry out the funeral. Refer to the Yellow Pages for details of the local Funeral Directors.
After discussion regarding the family's wishes, the Funeral Director will coordinate the arrangements (including organising the church and priest).
As soon as possible after the Funeral Director has made the funeral arrangements with the parish, the parish priest will visit you at home. He will discuss the funeral with you and provide you with a range of prayers and readings from which you can choose. It is not necessary to decide straight away how the funeral will be arranged, you can let the Parish Office staff know once you've had an opportunity to consider the choices.
There is no need to worry about printing an Order of Service. The parish can take care of that for you at no additional cost.
Funerals can be celebrated at all four churches in our parish. Some Funeral Directors also have their own chapel and, on request, our priest can attend there.
Families may decide between a burial or a cremation. Cremations are frequent on the Sunshine Coast, especially if there is no extended family living here.
